Oh...my little Amy

These days Amy cracks me up with the things she says and does. Things like whispering in my ear that the crocodile is fatter than the alligator. She did this because I had been talking to her about not saying things like that out loud because it can be hurtful to people. This "teaching moment" came right after she said out loud, pointing, while standing in line at the fabric store, "mommy that lady is fat and that lady is not". In her defense, we have been reading books on opposites.

"A long long long day ago" this might mean, last week, last month, last year, last life

"A short day ago" might mean yesterday or the day before

"Thank you for the gosmel" this is what she says in her prayers

"Can I play on the puter" of course this means computer

"When is Heavenly Father coming to my house?"

"Dad, do you live in California or Livermore?"

"Can we wash the car so I can get donuts?" What the heck does that mean?

Here is a song she was singing in the car yesterday that just melted my heart...(Just make up your own tune...she did)

God is Heavenly Father and Heavenly Father is God.

He is brave and strong.

he lives in Heaven and I just live here.

He can see me and I don't see him

4 years olds...there the best!

We DO believe in fairies!

For the past few weeks Rachel, Amy, and our next door neighbor Jessica have been obsessed with fairies. These are the fairy houses they build on the side yard of our house. And besides the constant leaves, snails, bark, and all kinds of debris scattered every where all the time...it is pretty darn cute. Every morning, afternoon, and evening is spent tending to the fairy houses. Unfortunately, no "real" spottings of fairies yet. Although, Amy says she "thinks" she sees one everyday. She says the proof is that the sweet fairy milk is gone every morning. I don't have the heart to tell her that the hollowed out acorn used to hold the milk, just tips over. Would you?

Fairy house #1...my favorite. Notice the white table on the left with red berries for eating?
Fairy house #2...this one has some evening lighting.

Fairy house #3...actually it's "The Barn" for the snails. You know...fairy horses.

FINALLY...everyone is in school.

Alec the BIG 8th grader...started a East Ave. Middle School...but 2 weeks into school Junction had a spot and he got transferred. YAY!! He is with Taylor and Devin. He is so happy and so are we. Steve and I were so impressed with the teachers at Back to School Night. Alec decided to tryout for the basketball team with Taylor and put off swimming. He made the team and is having a great time.
Rachel the BIG 5th grader. Last year at Sunset Elementary School and is starting to get itchy to move on. She scored the great teacher in Mrs. Weldon and is having a blast.

Amy just started her 2nd year of preschool a few days ago. And although I'm not pushing her out the door by all means...I am happy for a couple of hours 3x a week to get something done...ALL BY MYSELF!!!

Home front is happy...for a week.

My blog would not be complete if it didn't include BYU football. And especially after yesterday's game. Everyone anticipated a lost against Oklahoma...they were ranked #3. And of course everyone knows that BYU hasn't beat a top 5 team like that since 1990 against Miami (I was at that game....had know idea what I was witnessing). I mean for heaven sake...BYU has only beat a top 5 team 3 times ever. And of course I really didn't know all this until last night when Steve, completely pumped up, told me all of this. Steve is happy for week...and that makes me happy. He wore his BYU tie to church to day...and has read everything there is possible to read about the game. I think he went to bed at 1:30 this morning...too much to read. I fell asleep to the sounds of Sportscenter...and was awaken several times to the sound of Sportscenter. I couldn't get mad...it's those few choice moments with BYU football Steve gets a season...where I just gotta let him soaked it all in. It's kind of sick....

Amy's Perspective

Who ever said that the dentist were scary...was so wrong in Amy's book. Here is what Amy said after her last visit to the dentist.
Amy: "Mom, I really like the dentist. You get to sit in a chair that moves up. I get to wear sunglasses like you. And you get a princess toothbrush. Can you believe it?
Me: "What until your first root canal." (mine was in June...I HATE THE DENTIST!)
