What a week!

My mom and dad came to visit this past week from Boise. It was so much fun having them here. The kids had a lot of special things going on during the week. It was great to have grandma and grandpa around to see them all. Here is some of what we did.

Mom, Steve, Alec, and I went to the temple to do Baptisms for my mom's parents, and both sets of grandparents. It was a wonderful...thanks dad for watching the girls.

Alec had a Court of Honor where he received his Star ranking. He is well on his way to getting his Eagle before he turns 15. Since Steve couldn't get out of the office during the day, Alec was Grandpa's golfing buddy.

"Witch Doctor"

"Rock'n Roll is Here to Stay"

Rachel's 4th grade class put on a music production called "Rock'n Roll is Here to Stay". It was all about the 50's music and singers and the history that help shape music today. Rachel was part of the "Jail House Rock" by Elvis Presley number and the "Witch Doctor" number too. It was so cute! She knew every word to sing and move to make. What was so impressive was that there was no adult help behind the stage. They were on their own. They were incharge of all costume changes and set changes on their own. Plus get out on stage on time. Mrs. Holcomb, their teacher, sat out in the audience and watched. Rachel also had an indoor soccer game that Grandma got to see. They are always fun and exciting to see.

Amy got to spend the most time with Grandma and Grandpa. Ballet class was Grandma favorite.

After both Court of Honor and the Musical...we celebrated at Cold Stone.

If she can do it...

Hooray for little girls. This morning...mind you it was 5:30 in the morning, Amy got up and had to go "pee". From the comfort of my warm bed, I hear the seat go up, the squeak of bare skin slide over the seat and the tinkle of a little 4 year old's stream hit the water. While I wait to hear the flushing of the toilet, in my mind I am celebrating the fact that I no longer have to jump out of bed and help run her into the bathroom to make sure she made it in time. Soooo much nicer listening than doing. Anyway, my pleasant memories were interrupted by the sound of a cupboard closing. What was that? I sit up in my bed to find Amy holding a roll of toilet paper. Her comment..."Let (just) getting more toilet paper mom." After elbowing Steve and informing him of what just happened...and tucking Amy back in bed...I climb back into bed and say to myself, "If she can do it...anyone can."

It's the Best!

Who doesn't love Costco? The food, the prices, the "stuff", and then there's that heck of a deal Costco Cafe we all enjoy after a good shopping trip. Our new find we love is the Yo plait Smoothly in a bag. Steve makes the best smoothies every morning from scratch with protein powder and all, but the kids love them for a snack after school. And of course dad's not around after school, so these little pouches of fruit and yogart that you just add milk are the bomb.

Anyway...I am getting to the reason for my post about Costco. We have never gone to Costco without seeing someone we know. And Monday was no different. We had gone over to Costco to get passport pictures for the kids, pick up some food, and of course eat at Costco Cafe...and as we were about to pick up our pizza, out of the corner of my eye I see a familiar face looking at me. All of a sudden I remember it's a Linda, from freshman year in the dorms at BYU. Oh my gosh! She is the reason I survived the dorms...hilarious! Here we stood...me from Boise, Idaho...Linda from Las Vegas, NV...20 years later from freshman dorm life...meeting up at the Livermore, Ca Costco. Like I said, Costco...it's the best!

My top 3!

#1 - Why? I don't know why...he's different...not sure I would bye his CD, but will love watching him sing each week. Don't tell Steve about the so called pictures of Adam kissing a...he would freak out. He would never watch the show with me after that. #2 Why? Love the way he sings...and love the whole story on him.
#3 Why? Love the whole Billy Joel feel...would totally download some of his singles. I am so glad he made it in!!

If anybody ever want some company watching the show...let me know. It's just not as fun watching it alone. Steve...he just doesn't get it!
