Father/Daughter Dinner and Dance

As a counselor in the Stake Primary, recently we planned and had a Father/Daughter Dance and Dinner for the all the Activity Day girls in our stake. It was such a fun evening. Our theme was "Daughter of a King". The gym was decorated very fancy with balloons, tiaras, gems, even a body double with a "princess" type gown on it as a beauty spot. We had a semi prof. photography from another ward take their pictures with their dads, dinner, a spiritual message and song (Aimee Roylance did an amazing job singing Jenny Phillip's song "Daughter of a King") and then dancing. Jollene Berghoff, a lady in another ward, is a dance instructor...so she did some really fun things with them. Everyone loved it. The girls felt so special, and you could tell the dads were enjoying every minute of the time with their daughters. It was kind of a family affair for us, because I was in charge...it was for Steve and Rachel, and Alec and his best friend Taylor helped seat and serve dinner to all the dads and daughters. Amy went over to a friends house for the evening. I am in the process of making a short music video of all the photos taken that night put to the Jenny Phillips version of "Daughter of a King". I hope the video is something both the girls and their dads will cherish always. I hope it helps them remember the evening and how special each of them are. Special to both their earthly father and to their Heavenly Father. I wish I had something like that from my daddy/daughter activity when I was Rachel's age.
